THE CREATOR
Irina Derevyankina
I started my journey with glass in 2017 at my studio in Haifa. My creations fuse traditional methods with clean aesthetic lines. Each jewel is a small sculpture, reflecting an intimate balance between human vision and flame.
Lampwork art forms
Lampworking involves melting glass rods in a 1000°C torch flame. Using a steel mandrel, I shape every bead by hand, ensuring that no two pieces are ever alike. To provide lasting strength, every item is tempered in a specialized kiln to eliminate stress and prevent breakage.
Each glass piece is a collaboration with heat where the artist leads the way
The artist
Irina Derevyankina: fire artist
Since 2017, I have dedicated myself to lampworking, transforming raw glass into luminous wearable art. To me, this medium is far more than just a job; it is an ongoing exchange with the power of fire.
Glass represents a still second of time, frozen in the fire
Lampwork is an intricate process of melting glass at heats exceeding 800 degrees. Every single detail is handcrafted and then carefully annealed in a professional kiln to ensure it lasts a lifetime. In my Haifa-based studio, I craft jewelry that embodies both human touch and the beauty of light.
